It’s tax season again! April 15th is just around the corner. Have you filed yet? Many Americans have. But many, many Americans will wait until the very last minute. With the number of tax credits that are available now more people will receive refunds rather than tax bills. Now, what are they going to do with that refund money? Some will put it in a savings account. A lot of people will literally blow it on something they have wanted all year long but couldn’t afford like a new T.V., a fancy “weekend toy”, etc… One thing that they probably couldn’t afford last year is the treatment plan from their last dental visit. Am I right? I’m sure your thinking, “I wouldn’t want to spend “extra” money on dental treatment either, I would want to do something fun too”. If you really want to think about your patients’ best interest, their dental health, and the health of your practice, it’s time to change the way you think. This month’s blog is dedicated to helping you see things differently and think just outside of the box so you can benefit your patients AND your practice.
As you already know, most insurance benefits reset in January. That means that anyone from 2015 that had an outstanding treatment plan could get that proposed treatment done now. Have you contacted those patients yet? It’s an unfortunate fact many offices that I have talked to since the beginning of the year have not. Why? Because it isn’t a priority to them. Profit should always be your priority! Since the patients’ insurance benefits have reset typically this means that they will have less patient portion needed to cover their treatment. Why not use tax refund money to pay for it? Think about this: Use your Treatment Plan Analyzer in Practice-Web. Contact patients with high production treatment plans. Let them know if they “pay with their tax refund” they get a special discount of 5-10% off, whatever amount you’re willing to take off. It’s a win-win. Your patients get much-needed treatment to benefit their dental health at a price they can now afford and you get the production from a what would have been forgotten treatment plan. Let’s be realistic the money isn’t going to come directly from their refunds. But why let this marketing opportunity pass by?

1) Use your Treatment Plan Analyzer (found in the Manage Module).
With the Treatment Plan Analyzer, you can filter proposed treatment by code so if you want to concentrate on those high production treatment plans you can.
2) Generate your list and contact your patients.
You can type a custom message in the message box to let them know about your tax refund promotion and you can send postcards or emails. You can also you Prompt Calls to send a recorded phone message to your patients about their outstanding treatment.
