Using the notes sections of your Practice-Web Software is integral to achieving a paperless office. The notes sections are not just for the doctor to enter treatment notes but they can be used for any staff-to-patient or staff-to-staff communication. When your office can communicate more efficiently with each other ultimately this will help your office be more productive and improve patient care, resulting in higher cash flow.
There are notes sections everywhere in Practice-Web. The first and most important is treatment notes. Treatment notes are entered in the Progress notes section of the chart module.
There are three ways to enter treatment notes, default notes, quick note templates, and in some instances voice dictation. (Windows 7 or Dragon Naturally Speaking required) The number one excuse we hear from doctors for not entering their notes into the software is that they can write faster than they can type. They think that it is more efficient to just keep their paper charts. With these note options, nothing is faster no matter how fast your doctor thinks he can write 😉
There are many other notes sections for instance in the appointment module, accounting module, and family module. When your staff uses these notes sections they can communicate better improving the level of care to your patients. For example, if your front desk person was working with an insurance company for a particular patient but has to call in sick if the notes documenting the communication and status of the issue were in the patient’s account module the when the patient calls to check on the status of resolution any staff member would be able to give the patient the information they were looking for. This level of communication is what makes your patients feel valued and if you have your administrative business in order it will give them confidence in your ability to treat their dental needs.
