Using Practice-Web’s Stunning 3-D Tooth Chart!

Practice-Web has an excellent 3-D tooth chart that nicely shows the patient’s teeth, as well as treatment that has been performed, is planned, or has been referred out.  Clients frequently ask us how to change the default “Simple Tooth Chart” to this 3-D one.  Here are the easy steps!

Setting Up Your 3-D Tooth Chart

  1. Open your graphic options by selecting File in the top toolbar, then scroll down and select Graphics. This will open the Graphics Preference screen.
  2. On the top-left corner of the Graphics Preference screen, select the radio button labeled “Use OpenGL tooth chart.”
  3. Next are the OpenGL filters for the Tooth chart.  Check the box labeled “Hardware Acceleration” so your tooth chart does not continuously load when selecting teeth in the Chart Module.  (Note that this option depends on your computer’s graphic abilities, so some PCs will not have it.)
  4. Now we’re ready to choose the right format from the table “Available Graphic Formats.”  This will list all the formats with which your PC is compatible. Highlight one of the listed formats from the table.

Using the 3-D Tooth Chart

We’re now ready to show off the 3-D Tooth Chart. First, choose a test patient using the “Select Patient” button and go to the Chart module.  As you’ll see, the 3-D Tooth Chart will now have “paint types” for procedures such as fillings, crowns and extractions.  If a tooth is missing, the new chart will remove it from display.  Now you’re all set!

Extra Tips

How can I change the tooth chart tshow Primary teeth?

Click on the “Primary” tab on the top-right area of the Chart module. Select “Set All Primary” to change all teeth to primary or select an individual tooth and click the “Set Selected Tooth” button.

How do I mark a tooth as “missing” when charting patient?

Click on the “Missing Teeth” tab in the top-right area of the Chart module.  You will have the ability to hide teeth, set teeth as missing, and if a tooth grows back by some magical force (!) you can mark it as not missing.  To return to your treatment, click the “Enter Treatment” tab. You’re ready to 3-D chart!
