As of January 2021, more than half of all states require dentists to use ePrescribing to prescribe medication to patients. Very soon, more states will require dentists to use ePrescribing as well, possibly including yours. There are also certain pediatric data requirements going into effect this year. Practice-Web can help you easily comply with both of these requirements!
Pediatric Data Requirements from Surescripts
Surescripts is the engine behind DoseSpot, our recommended ePrescribing service, as well as another prescribing service we offer called NewCrop. It’s Surescripts on the back end helping you out with PMDP data and tasks like finding local pharmacies.
For improved patient safety, Surescripts require providers to input height and weight information for pediatric patients this fall. If you’re using DoseSpot, we’ve already got you covered! Practice-Web will automatically pass the data from your software to DoseSpot and Surescripts, so you won’t need to change a thing. Just make sure you’re adding height and weight information for kids as part of your regular workflow.
If you’re using NewCrop, you’ll want to migrate to DoseSpot before August 30, 2021. Our Sales team will get you squared away—just click here to connect.
Spotlight: What’s Surescripts
The Surescripts network connects healthcare professionals and pharmacies, sharing data in real-time for more informed care decisions and faster communication. More than two million healthcare professionals and organizations participate in the network which now has a master patient index that represents 98 percent of the population—a total of 324 million people. Despite the enormity of the database, Surescripts returns patient matches in an average of 0.04 seconds!
